Principals Message

Mr. Andrus

It is with great pride that I welcome you to Summit High School. Our goal is to provide an exciting educational opportunity for all of our students. We look forward to experiencing all the challenges and excitement that is part of opening a new school. I hope that you are as excited by our prospects as I am. The 110 employees at Summit High School are dedicated to the challenge of meeting the academic, social, and athletic needs of a diverse student populace. Our staff will provide students with a safe, clean, state-of-the-art learning environment.

As many of you know, I was the principal of A.B. Miller High School for three years. I served as Assistant Principal at Fontana High School, A.B. Miller High School and helped open Kaiser High School. After having experienced the excellent programs that each of these schools offer, I am determined that the students at Summit High School be afforded the same opportunities. Once we begin the 2008 school year, I can assure you that Summit High School will surpass the other high schools in terms of meeting the needs of our students. We have an incredibly dynamic, highly qualified professional staff of educators that are committed to making every student successful. The majority of our teachers hold advanced degrees, and approximately half of our staff is bilingual. Meeting the academic needs of a diverse student populace still remains our greatest challenge. We need your help in this endeavor.

I am fortunate to be assisted by an outstanding staff that includes my Assistant Principals, Mr. Richard Roth, Mr. Greg Lopez and Ms. Silvana Guerrucci-Pierce, all have years of administrative experience having served at elementary, middle school and high school levels, as well as being experienced classroom teachers. The remainder of my team consists of: our Athletic Director, Mr. Ed Kearby, who is from Kaiser High School. Mr. Kearby is known and respected throughout the area for his winning attitude and successful track record; we have four incredible counselors, Ms. Mary Malloy, Mr. Doug Homme, Ms. Alice Path and Mrs. Francis Vera who have middle and high school experience in the roles of counselor and teacher. Summit's teaching and support staff are a combination of new and experienced employees that bring a unique dimension. Their expertise and enthusiasm will provide our students with the best and most caring educational experience possible.

The school year will begin September 4th. Our school consists of 9th, 10th, 11th graders; however, as each year passes we will gain another grade until the class of 2009 graduates. Go SkyHawks!

I look forward to our opening this year and to meeting all of you. Please call me at 357-5950 x 3009 if I can be of any service.

Sincerely,

Micheal Andrus

Principal
